2009 Fall Adult Education

 Christian Life Learning Center
Fall Into A Great New Study Habit

We invite you to join an adult class or Bible study. There is something for everybody, so don’t miss out. Let this fall be a season of beauty for your spiritual life as you grow closer to Jesus right here in our church.

Sunday Classes
Faith-and-DoubtIn this refreshingly candid look at a life of faith, Ortberg points us toward the relief of being totally honest. Questions can expand our understanding, uncertainty can lead to trust, and honest faith can produce outrageous hope. Together the class will explore the unique relationship between these seemingly incongruent states.  Join George Hooker at 8:00 a.m. in the Library.

Family Matters is a dynamic class of parents who want to grow in their faith and purpose. If you are a parent and would like to experience a wonderful fellowship and interchange of ideas on parenting, marriage, Bible study, and spiritual development you are welcome.   This fall our study will focus on the Ten Commandments.  Join Cindy Davis and Cherie Matthews at 9:30 a.m. in the Library.

the-shackReverend David Cotton will begin a study and discussion of The Shack at his 9:30 a.m. adult church school class. All you need is a copy of the book and a desire to dig deeper into the meaning and symbolism of the story. Come and share in this opportunity and invite a friend! Join David at 9:30 a.m. in the Session Room, adjacent to the church office.

It-All-Goes-Back-in-the-Box

Richard O’Rourke will be leading a study based on the lessons of John Ortberg. Like cards and tokens at a board game's end, life's rewards---houses, cars, promotions---all get "put away" after we take our last breath. Discover how to make the temporary a servant of the eternal, and exchange "having" for the riches of being!  Join Richard at 11:00 a.m. in the Library.

Week Night Classes
Reverend David Cotton will continue his Bible study of the Minor Prophets.   This class is run like a seminar, and you will learn collegiate level history and theology through David’s teaching.  Join David at 7:00 p.m. Wednesdays in the Sanctuary.

Psalms, Prayers of the HeartGenesis Group, taught by Cindy Davis, is offered twice a month on Wednesday evenings in the church library at 7 p.m.  Our first sessions are September 16 and 30. We usually meet the second and fourth Wednesday of the month.  This fall our study will begin with Eugene Peterson’s Psalms, Prayers of the Heart.    The Psalms show us how to talk to God amidst the rawness of our anger, fears and doubts. They show us how to discover who we really are and who God is. This group consists of women from all walks of life. If you are a woman seeking to grow in her faith and spiritual development you are welcome.
