OUR PURPOSE is to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (USA) and witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom. We accomplish this through worship, Bible study, fellowship and outreach.
Presbyterian Women (PW) is a vital organization that has always been a very important part of church life for many women in our congregation. It is divided into circles; and although not every woman in the church actively participates in a circle, every woman is considered a part of the group and is encouraged to become active when the time is appropriate for her.
PW currently has approximately 120 women actively participating in eight circles that meet monthly for fellowship, Bible study, and local and overseas mission projects. Several fund-raising events (Rummage, Household, and Bake Sales, etc) are held throughout the year that make it possible to support these mission ventures. In addition to assisting the youth ministry of our church by helping to fund their summer mission trips and by adding monies to our By Faith We Build project, we raised over $10,200 this past year to support other local missions, including Interfaith Neighbors, Providence House, Madonna House, Boys' Club, Bible Society, Sisters’ Academy, Solutions Pregnancy Center, 180 Degrees –Turning Lives Around, Epiphany House, Emmanuel Cancer Care, and Manna House.
Each December, we participate in a Community Christmas Worship Service and Luncheon that is conducted by twenty of the local churches.
Our PW continues to grow yearly, empowering women to move beyond their limits into a life of Christian spiritual growth, fellowship, service and leadership. This year, we are celebrating 50 years of Ministry!
If serving the church, camaraderie with other women of all ages and taking part in some very worthwhile charitable endeavors is something that appeals to you, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please email the church office or call (732) 223-4627.
